For families dreaming of owning their own home, but uncertain about how to make that dream a reality, the Central Nebraska Housing Developers (CNHD) is conducting REACH-Approved Homebuyer Educational workshops on a monthly basis throughout the region, and offering Downpayment Assistance.

REACH (Readiness-Education-Awareness Collaborative for Homebuyers and Homeowners) was established in 1997 to remove the barriers to homeownership through a statewide education delivery system, enhancing the success of homebuyers in achieving and maintaining homeownership. Nearly 60 percent of households become homebuyers within one year of completing a homebuyer education program delivered by a certified REACH Affiliate.

Homebuyers Education Workshop

These Homebuyer Education Workshops, designed to take the uncertainty out of the homebuying process, will take families step by step through the homebuying process, including:

Deciding whether homeownership is right for you
Shopping for a house that meets your needs
Obtaining a home mortgage and other forms of financing
Closing the sale
Maintaining the house after it's yours
Successfully handling your mortgage obligation

This is an exciting program that offers families the opportunity to realize their dream of owning their own home. Homeownership provides stability to families and communities, and fosters economic development in the region.

Workshop Details:

Cost - $25 per household for books and materials
Pre-registration required
Participants must attend both evenings to receive a certificate of completion
Some mortgage and downpayment assistance programs require all persons listed on the property deed to attend

Downpayment Assistance Program
Many families dream of owning a home, but lack the funds necessary for a downpayment. The Central Nebraska Housing Developers' Downpayment Assistance with Rehab Program provides funds for income-eligible families that can help make their dreams a reality.
